Children’s Program Kit
The Children’s Program Kit offers
information for children about addictions.
The program focuses on addiction as a family disease, and when one
person in the family is affected the entire family suffers. Information is
provided to children educating them on treatment and recovery,
community-based supports, clarifying, validating and talking about their
experiences. Children learn that recovery from addictions is a process.
Students are informed on the importance of asking for support and
reassurance in order to take care of them self.
Messages are continuously taught educating children about the facts
revolving around addictions such as you are not alone, it is not your
fault, you deserve help and there is help for you, addiction is a disease
and you can share your feeling with safe people. Children are also taught
skills in problem solving, communicating with others, building strength
and resiliency, relationship skills, intra-personal skills and dealing
with parental relapses.
