Strengthening Families (SFP)

The SFP consists of (3) courses,

1. Parent Skills Training,

2. Children’s Skills Training,

3. Family Life Skills Training.

In the 1st hour parents and children participate in separate classes.

Parents learn: to increase desired behaviors in children by using

® attention and rewards, ® clear communication, ® effective discipline,

® substance use education, ® problem solving, ® limit setting.

Children learn:

• effective communication, * understanding feelings, * coping with anger and criticism,
• stress management, * social skills, * problem solving, * resisting peer pressure
• Consequences of substance abuse, * compliance with parental rules

In the 2nd hour family’s practice: · structured family activities, · therapeutic child play, · family meeting, · ·communication skills, ·effective discipline, · reinforcing positive behaviors in each other, and · planning together family activities.

Classes held at ADAC Office

On Mondays at 6:00-8:00p.m.
